  • Counselling

I am a named lead provider counsellor for ACC. I specialise in using DBT, Creative Expressive Therapy, and Animal Assisted Therapy to support my clients in reaching their counselling goals. I offer both in-person and Telehealth sessions to ensure clients can access services in a way that suits them.

  • Individual Equine Therapy

I offer individual Equine Therapy to ACC-sensitive claims clients, focusing on their personal goals. To access this service, the client's counsellor (the ACC-named lead provider) must contact me and request hours through ACC. Individual equine therapy is completed in Tuakau - 10 minutes for Pukekohe.

  • Group Equine Therapy

Equine therapy groups and retreat days are held at Pongarosa Equestrian Centre in Puni, Pukekohe. These groups are for ACC sensitive Claims clients. To enrol for a group the client’s counsellor (ACC named lead provider) must request this through ACC. All codes and information are supplied below.

Equine Therapy

In conjunction with South Coast Psychology and Pongarosa Equestrian Centre, we run Equine therapy retreat days and 7-week Equine Therapy groups for ACC sensitive claim clients in Puni, Pukekohe.

Equine Therapy retreat days will contain information and experiences similar to the 7-week course. The focus of these days is awareness and regulation, although this will be a basic understanding and experience compared to the 7-week group.

Clients will learn about and explore a topic with the horses in each session. In each of these topics, skills and awareness development allow clients to realise they have choices in dealing with situations, themselves, and others differently.

We support clients in being with the horses and each other, as horses do! So, there will be some new learnings about ‘the Way of the Horse’ for them to get curious about and learn how this knowledge can help us in our lives. Clients will experience observations, interactions, tasks, and play.

Topics explored and skills developed relate to:

  • Observing accurately

  • Reflection

  • Safety

  • Regulation

  • Boundaries

  • Awareness of sensation

  • Awareness of feelings

  • Awareness of relationship

  • Building relationships

  • Creative expression
